Earth rod to tape connection, group: C-UP-A
Vertical earth rod to horizontal tape, end connection

Moulds and materials for exothermic connections.
The CBM Weld exothermic connection is a durable and easy-to-make method of joining a copper-bonded vertical earth rod with a copper-bonded or copper-bonded/tinned tape. The copper weld adheres tightly to the joined elements without damaging the structure of the copper or tin coating. To make a durable connection, all you need is a reusable graphite mould, a mould handle, the powder that forms the weld, a clamp and a spark igniter or an electronic igniter.
The CBM Weld exothermic connection method can join various materials, such as copper, steel, copper-bonded steel, copper-bonded/tinned steel and galvanised steel. Because of the potential differences between these materials, remember that copper or copper-bonded elements should not be joined with galvanised steel and placed in the ground, as galvanic corrosion may occur.

The mould handle is used to clamp the graphite mould during exothermic welding.
| Cat. no. | Type |
|---|---|
| CBM501 | small mould handle |
| CBM505 | large mould handle |

Welding powder consisting of copper oxide and aluminium oxide, designed to join metal elements by an exothermic reaction. The exothermic reaction turns the powder into liquid metal, which flows down into the chamber with the metal elements. When the liquid mass cools, the metal elements are permanently joined by a copper sheath.

If powders of incorrect weight are used, the manufacturer accepts no liability for the quality of the connection or for damage to the mould.

The spark igniter is used to ignite the starting powder that initiates the exothermic reaction in the graphite mould.
Cat. no. CBM511

A device designed by CBM Technology for remote ignition of the CBM Weld welding powder in the graphite mould, without the need for a powder that initiates the exothermic process. The electronic igniter can be used instead of the spark igniter. Use the ignition electrode to initiate the exothermic reaction.

CBM Weld starter is designed to initiate the exothermic reaction of the welding powder. To initiate the process, pour a small amount of starter (powder from the sachet) into the combustion chamber, then close the mould and pour the rest of the powder around the opening in the mould cover. Ignite the starter with the spark igniter.
Cat. no. CBM550

The CBM Weld ignition electrode is designed to initiate the exothermic reaction of the welding powder. To initiate the process, insert the electrode into the igniter cable plug, then place the electrode in the opening of the graphite mould.
Cat. no. CBM513

The CBM Weld disc blocks the tap hole in the mould, through which the welding powder flows into the chamber with the elements to be welded once it has reached the correct temperature and melted the disc. Leaving the disc out of the mould or placing it incorrectly may result in a faulty weld and a sudden escape of molten metal from the mould.
